Lucas Oil off road racing in Elsinore

Anybody going to this this weekend?

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Storms into Lake Elsinore!

Corona, Ca. (June 24, 2009) – The stage is set for the first of two colossal weekends of short course off road racing action to be held at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex. This first Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series event, June 27th and 28th will mark the long anticipated return of short course off road racing to the Inland Empire. Just up the road from the original West Coast home of short course off road racing, Riverside Raceway, long ago replaced by a shopping mall, the Lucas Oil Off Road race brings off road racing to a region rich with a history and tradition of off road motorsports. The Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex, long known as a motocross paradise, has been transformed with a giant four wheel off road track featuring high flying tabletops, long rhythm sections and blazingly fast high banked corners.

“This is going to be one of our most popular venues,” commented Lucas Oil Off Road’s Tony Vanillo. “The track is amazing, the weather is going to be fantastic and we are so extremely thrilled to be racing here in Lake Elsinore. Ever since we announced this as the location of two of our events, the area has really shown us an immense amount of support. Now that it’s finally here, we are expecting a huge crowd and great racing!”

E3 Sparkplugs has put $10,000 up for grabs to the winners in the Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 (850HP Truck) classes which may provide even more incentive for U-2 class leader Jerry Welchel to hold his position over 2nd place Carl Renezeder. In U-4, Renezeder holds the top spot with teammate Alan Pflueger and Jerry Daugherty closely behind.

Rob Naughton continues his undefeated run through the Unlimited Lite field. Challengers Chris Brandt and Brian Deegan look to take the top spot away from the seemingly unbeatable Naughton with $5,000 of E3 Cash on the line. Other class leaders include John Harrah in Superlite, Chuck Cheek in Unlimited Buggy, Bruce Fraley in Limited Buggy and Todd Ouellette and Tyler Winbury in UTV.

The Metal Mulisha Freestyle Jump Team will be performing throughout the day while the Team Associated RC Car Racing Team will be making the first ever recorded attempt at a world’s record ramp to ramp distance jump with the Team Associated RC-8 Buggy. To close each day, the Rockstar Stage will come alive with a concert by Alien Ant Farm on Saturday and MXPX on Sunday. All the action begins on Friday night the 26th at the Trevi Entertainment Center in Lake Elsinore with the Rockstar Kick off Party where the Metal Mulisha’s Brian Deegan, Hart Huntington’s Carey Hart and many of the drivers and teams will be signing autographs and mingling with fans.

Tickets are $30 each day or $50 for the entire weekend. The box office will be open at 8am on event days or come early and pick up your tickets all day Friday.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) is the evolution of the long standing support of short course racing by Forrest Lucas and Lucas Oil. Steeped in the Midwest tradition of short course off road racing infused with a West Coast influence, LOORRS brings intense four wheel door to door action to challenging, fan friendly tracks. I was going to roll out there but had to work today and go in tomorrow for a lil. There are a lot of good peeps out there and I wish I could be out there cracking a cold one with all of them. I heard that the XMF/Weller t-rex well both of them 1 and 2. Rj spun out towards the end so it killed it for him. Then there is Rog 07fj was the first rhino across with his benchmark 686 motor in the flying banana. I like that Rog is racing with the same motor he dunes with and that show what type of motor Chris puts out ! Congrats to all that ran today and good luck to everyone running tomorrow
