The fcr41that came on the 08 honda crf450 has a mechaical accelerator pump linkage that the other fcr41's don't. It basically eliminates the off-idle bog that is common on other fcr's when you crack open the throttle. The other fcr carbs are still great, they just take more work to set up initially. The best thing about the FCR's over the other carbs(mikuni's etc...) is they are very tolerant to alti-tude changes and also they don't need to be adjusted and tinkered with once they are set up.

So the biggest advantage is the 0 to say 10mph but what I don't get is I have a 44 so how is the 41 going to compare in air flow across the board ? I don't have a prob with attlitude really...but there is def a diff from silverwood compared to OW but my plug seems to be good everytime I pull it.

The stock carb is a slightly bigger bore, but has the butterfly in the way which obstructs airflow. The FCR doesn't have the butterfly in the middle of the bore so it flows more air. I noticed much better throttle response at 5-6ooo ft. with the FCR over the stock bored out carb. Are you running a stock carb? or a bored out stocker?

I sold my bored stocker for 150.00 and bought the fcr 41 for 200.00 from a guy that was parting out his 08 crf 450. Check out thumpertalk and fleabay. You should be able to pick one up for around 200.00. Don't settle for a cheaper fcr39 either, get the 41.
