Hungry Valley / Gorman
Anyone offroaded at Hungry Valley / Gorman? How are the trails and the overnight camping? Looks like it might be a good place for a summer trip.

Great place for a weekend - You can ride everything in a half a day but still fun. If you ride a 2 wheeler you can spend the morning up in the forest riding the fun trails then spend the afternoon with the family in the valley. I make a couple trips a year there..........

The place is huge, there is miles of parking, there is a gate at the entrance to pay your fee. Its not much. The trails are well marked and some are one-way only so you can haul butt. There is a man made rock crawling are just for playing around.

That's the problem with big, easily accessable riding areas. I have never riden there, just driven by on the way over the grapevine. I was hoping it might be cooler (air temp) during the summer and a nice place for a weekend trip. Still might try- - although all the trails in Big Bear look great. Need a damn licence plate for a large portion of the OHV trails in the Big Bear area. Any one camp up in Big Bear lake? It looks like there are trails to ride out of camp, but not sure if they license plate OHV trails.

Gorman is cool.Used to go with my dad when I was a kid.We rode dirt bikes. One trail crossed the steam like 20 times.Ended up at the Owls Barn.

Haven't been to Gorman since I was 17. I'm sure the areas has been limited. From what I remember you could ride all the way to the back of the valley cross a stream and continue up a mountain. I don't think you could see it in a day. Is this still the case?

Thats the same trail I'm think of.You come down the side of the mountain on a crazy switch back trail.(dirt bike only)

Actually I think it was a dirt road like the Sliverwood trails. It winds up the side of I believe Alamo Mountain.
